TERMS &
CONDITIONS
• Renters must carry a Driver's Licence or a valid unendorsed driver's licence with English translation and photograph.
• The minimum rental age is 21 years, and the driver must have been in possession of a valid drivers licence for a minimum of 1 year. Renters who are under the age of 21 or have not had a drivers licence for more than 1 year will be permitted to rent a vehicle subject to a young drivers surcharge.
• There is no maximum rental age, however, Personal Accident Insurance is not included for persons over the age of 75 years.
• It is a legal requirement in Southern Africa to be in possession of your drivers licence at all times whilst driving a vehicle.
• Over Border Rentals: Clients wishing to enter a country other than the country of rental, must be in possession of a Letter of Authority from Avis, obtainable from Avis when you pick up your vehicle.
• The minimum rental period is 1 day and calculates on a 24 hour cycle, which starts from the time of collection. Should a vehicle be returned late, the renter will be charged for an additional day at the extension rates which will have to be settled direct with Avis on return of the vehicle.
• A credit card is required on collection of the vehicle - authorisation for the fuel deposit and excess amounts will be taken off of your credit card if applicable.

• MOBILE PHONES: Free mobile phone rental service provides travellers with a cost effective alternative to international roaming and is more convenient than a pre-paid option. You pay for your calls and insurance. In Namibia satellite phones are available.
• AVIS ASSIST GPS ENABLED NAVIGATION: The satellite navigation system (GPS - Global Positioning System) plugs into a car's cigarette lighter point and is operated through a touch screen mechanism. You simply have to enter your destination into the unit and you will be guided with turn-by-turn directions on screen as well as voice prompts to your destination.
• YOUnique OPTIONS: This is a unique approach to self-drive holidays in South Africa, Swaziland and Namibia, offering day by day route planning presented in a high quality personalised digest which includes: general travel information, property to property route description with strip maps and travelling times, day by day sightseeing suggestions, information brochure and road atlas.
