Day 1: Windhoek / Sossusvlei (D) The tour commences with the collection of guests from the major city hotels, within Windhoek. Travel via the scenic Spreethoogte Pass and the town of Solitaire to your lodge. Guests will experience ever-changing landscapes. The terrain becomes more arid as we continue past the Naukluft massif and into the pro-Namib.
Day 2: Sossusvlei (BLD) An early start is imperative, as this is not only the coolest part of the day but the best for photography. Our journey takes us to the famous Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Observe the fauna and flora that inhabits this region. Climbing one of the dunes affords the energetic traveller with an unforgettable experience of endless vistas across a sea of apricot-coloured sands. Time will be spent exploring the impressive sandstone gorges of Sesriem Canyon, with its rock pools fed by the Tsauchab, the same river that feeds Sossusvlei during the rainy season. During the afternoon join a guided nature/sunset drive to the Marble Mountains or relax at the Lodge. Day 3: Sossusvlei / Swakopmund (BD) After a leisurely breakfast head towards Swakopmund via Ganab and arrive at lunch time. Spend the night in Swakopmund, a popular seaside resort with a slightly nostalgic atmosphere. A stroll around the town will enable you to discover the German architecture, the flower gardens and the beautiful beaches.
Day 4: Depart Swakopmund (B) After a leisurely breakfast, depart for Walvis Bay/Swakopmund Airport for your onward journey. For an exciting onward option, we recommend you travel back to Windhoek on board the Desert Express (not included in package price). Desert Express departs from Swakopmund back to Windhoek every Saturday, and includes 1 night on board the train, as well as several off-train excursions.
