Thompsons Africa plays an active role in supporting organisations which focus on our heritage.

For the past few years, Thompsons has funded selected unemployed, underprivileged learners on a one-year Genearal Study Learnership in travel, followed by work experience at Thompsons, and employment for graduates within the Group.

	Fair Trade in Tourism SA (FTTSA) is a non-profit initiative that certifies tourism establishments for abiding by the principals of 'fair trade', with criteria such as fair wages and working conditions.  By electing to stay at or use the services of such an establishment, tourists know their travel benefits local communities and economies.
	Thompsons' Principal Membership support allows WWF, the conservation organisation, to play its pivotal role in supporting the long-term sustainable management of South Africa's natural resources, thus assisting the provision of a sustainable way of life for all South Africans.
	Our support of the Wildlands Conservation Trust assists this organisation in its vital role of nurturing future generations of tourism guides, operators and products.
