Monday: Fish River Canyon (D)
The first leg of the journey takes you from Windhoek across the magnificent mountain range towards the far south of Namibia. Enjoy a birds eye view of the Hardap Dam, the Kalahari Desert, the extinct Brukkaros Volcano and the vast intriguing plains of the south. Our destination is the magnificent boulder-studded plains and hills to the east of the great Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world.
Tuesday: Sossusvlei (BD)
A scenic flight takes us over the steep and winding gorges of the Fish River Canyon, over the fascinating landscapes to the pro-Namib to Sesriem, the gateway to the southern Namib Desert and its magnificent dune belts.
Wednesday: Swakopmund (B)
Optional excursion to Sossusvlei. The best time to view Sossusvlei is at sunrise, the colours are strong and constantly changing, allowing for wonderful photographic opportunities. A low-level flight takes you to the Atlantic Ocean, across the dune desert to Swakopmund Airport. Then it's a short road transfer to your hotel.
Thursday: Coast / Damaraland (BD)
A transfer takes us to Walvis Bay where we embark on a Marine Cruise. This provides us with a glimpse of Namibia's only deep-sea harbour, encounters with aquatic birds and Cape Fur seals, and the opportunity of sighting bottlenose and heavyside dolphins. Namibian oysters are amongst the best in the world. Canapés and chilled sparkling wine from South Africa as well as soft drinks are served on board during this leisurely cruise. Our charter flight takes us north along the Skeleton Coast. Fly over the seal colony at Cape Cross, shipwrecks, the Messum Crater and the riverbeds of Namibia's ephemeral watercourse.
Friday: Twyfelfontein / Etosha (B)
Twyfelfontein has one of the most extensive accumulations of prehistoric rock designs in Namibia. The slopes of Twyfelfontein are strewn with boulders, all dotted with thousands of paintings and ancient engravings. Depart on an optional excursion to view a virtual open-air museum. In the air again, our journey continues, cutting across the northern interior of the country to a private lodge bordering on the Etosha National Park.
Saturday: Etosha (BD)
The game and birds found here are typical of the savannah plains of Southern Africa, but include several species endemic to the western side of the continent, adjacent to the Namib Desert. Participate in an early morning and afternoon guided gamed drive into the Etosha National Park.
Sunday: Return to Windhoek (B)
After a leisurely breakfast we board our aircraft for the final flight back to Windhoek.
