Situated in the north-western corner of the Kafue National Park, in the Busanga Plains, the camp is either a, 1h45 minute flight away from Livingstone Airport, or 1h20 minute flight from Lusaka Airport, plus a 20 minute helicopter transfer which takes guests directly into the camp.

Accommodation

The 4 luxury safari tents are specious and equipped with all the necessary modern conveniences for comfort. The camp itself blends harmoniously with the environment and where possible natural products were used in the construction of the camp, which offers magnificent game viewing and exceptional levels of services. There is also a small pool for you to cool off in.

The camp is perfectly situated to see the antelope that make the plains their home: lechwe, puku, roan as well as the diminutive oribi. Sitatunga are often sighted in the papyrus. Herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo are all commonly seen. This wealth of game is also a big attraction for predators, including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion. Day and night drives are offered as are walking safaris.

KAFUE NATIONAL PARK
This is the largest Zambian National Park, covering an area of 22 500 square kilometres (the size of Wales), with over 150 species of mammal recorded in the park. Renowned for regular sightings of lion as well as leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, hippo and large numbers of plains game from zebra, wildebeest, lechwe, puku and sable... you will not be disappointed. The birding too is phenomenal. The Basunga Plains in the northern section of Kafue, where Kapinga Camp is located, is a vast mosaic of grassy seasonal floodplains and 'dambos' (open grassy areas that occassionally fill with rainwater) that support a fantastic variety of wildlife.

Kapinga Camp is best incorporated into a 'greater' Zambian safari circuit package. We have put together a suggested 7 day safari package, namely 'The Great Zambian Journey' making use of two camps within the Kafue National Park (namely Busanga Camp and Lunga River Lodge), with one night in Victoria Falls Livingstone to take advantage of the adventure activities on offer here. This is a highly recommended safari package as the accommodation and service is excellent, as is the game viewing.

The Zambian safari circuit has 'opened up' in recent years, with increased air access, as well as new/entirely renovated and revamped camps within the National Parks by private business, who realise the potential of this remote, vast and romantic wilderness where game viewing is dynamic.

Our Zambian safari package takes in two camps within the Kafue National Park, however should you wish to include other camps within Kafue itself, or include the other Zambian National Parks (Lochinvar National Park, Lower Zambezi National Park, South Luangwa National Park) into your safari, please do speak to one of our consultants, who will guide you on the best option available at the time of year you wish to travel, as the National Parks are heavily influenced by the rainy season.
