For self guided clients, please do take note of the following regulations
- You need to remain in your vehicle at all times unless in designated areas.
- Vehicle doors should be closed at all times and it is not advisable to protrude from sun roofs or hang out of your vehicle - although the animals do appear soft and cuddly - they are most certainly wild.
- No off road driving is allowed, as this destroys the natural vegetation.
- Definitely no feeding of animals - vervet monkeys and baboons are a particular nuisance - when they are fed, they loose their natural fear of humans, and could act in an aggressive manor, worse yet, they become lazy to find their own food, which ultimately leads to their destruction. Never leave food unattended!
Helpful Tips for visitors on a self guided vacation in Kruger
- Do not try to cover to great a distance in one day, slow down and enjoy what the African bush has to offer - the slower you proceed the more likely you are to spot wildlife. Slow travel and regular stops tends to produce more action than covering a lot of ground.
- Early mornings and evenings are the best times of day to view wildlife as they are at their most active - particularly the predators. During the midday heat, most of the game snooze or scarper off into the undergrowth to escape the heat.
- Remember your camera, bino's, hat and sunscreen.
- It might also be a good idea to bring along medicines such as anti-histamine and lotion for insect stings and bites/repellent.
