GET CLOSE TO NATURE IN KRUGER (REAL CLOSE) ON THE THOMPSONS WOLHUTER TENTED SAFARI
If you are looking for a safari vacation with a difference, our Wolhuter Tented Safari is an absolute must. We have hosted many a first and second time visitor to Africa on our Wolhuter Safari, and we receive rave reviews time and again. This back to nature, but certainly NOT basic safari is specifically designed for clients who want to experience Africa's wildlife on a far more intimate level.
Our tented safari is on a private site within the southern Kruger National Park, and as the site is close to open plains, our clients have been entertained with some fantastic game viewing. Night time within Kruger is a privilege - gathered around an evening camp fire with the sounds and smell of the African bush pressing close, will leave you with lasting memories.
Read what some of our clients have to say about their Wolhuter Tented experience...
Our tented safari is named after a truly remarkable man - Harry Wolhuter was one of the very first game wardens of the Kruger National Park, whose account of his life within the Park at the time, is nothing short of amazing. This man was hauled off of his horse by a male lion, dragged into the bush by his right shoulder to be consumed! But, Harry Wolhuter kept his cool, unsheathed the knife at his belt, felt around the lion's chest with his free left arm to make sure of his aim and plunged his knife into the lion's heart killing the lion. His ordeal was not yet over, he had to spend the night up in a tree as the hyenas gathered, and with the help of his dogs who kept the hyenas at bay, Harry Wolhuter survived the night. Wolhuter's travelling party eventually caught up with him the next day, laying him on a stretcher to drag him off for medical attention, which incidentally was days away!
With the success of our Kruger Wolhuter Safari, we have more recently begun operating our Chobe Tented Safari, within the Chobe National Park. Chobe is well known for a dynamic game experience. Not only does it have great game viewing on land, but the Chobe River also provides superb opportunities to view game from the water as well. You will see elephant in huge numbers jostling at the water's edge to drink, massive crocodiles sunning themselves, and best of all, outstanding bird life.
A Thompsons tented safari will leave you with lasting memories.
