Highlights

Maputo is situated in the South of Mozambique, and has a warm tropical climate. Days are generally warm and humid while nights are warm but freshened by the sea breeze. Rainfall is in summer (Between September and March).

What to Expect

Maputo has a rich Portuguese & African heritage and buildings of historical significance still remain, such as the old fort and the railway station. The Costa do Sol open market sells beautiful local arts and crafts, and there are many other bustling and colourful markets in the city. The capital is also known for its vibrant nightlife. Maputo is a colonial-style city, with wide tree-lined streets and tall buildings overlooking the Indian Ocean.

This beautiful city suffered years of neglect in the 1980's, but is re-establishing itself on the international tourist scene as a fresh and unjaded destination for well travelled people.
