Sossusvlei is certainly the most unusual destination on earth because of its many different types of vegetation and its geological features. This area is an exceptionally beautiful, wild and romantic place which offers a natural beauty so overwhelming that it is an experience that cannot be forgotten. It is perhaps one of the most exciting photographic destinations on offer today!
It is made up of a vast, dried up clay pan over which tower a vast sea of magnificent sand dunes, which are reputed to be the highest in the world. Part of the Tsauchab River still occasionally flows into the pan, and this creates a waterhole where one can see wild game and a variety of birds.
Surrounding Sossusvlei is the vast Namib Naukluft National Park. This is the 4th largest conservation area in the world and in most areas is almost totally untouched by man ! |
