Day 1: (Thu) Arrive Johannesburg
On arrival at OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) a Thompsons Representative will meet and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of today is at leisure to explore the interesting shopping malls nearby. Johannesburg is the site of a large scale gold and diamond trade due to its location on the mineral-rich Witwatersrand range of hills. The city is fast paced, fun, a modern cosmopolitan metropolis packed with vitality and verve.
Day 2: (Fri) Johannesburg / Sun City
Transfer to Sun City this morning on the Sun City Shuttle. Sun City resort offers entertainment for the whole family: the exciting Sun City Casino and Entertainment Complex, two championship golf courses, and numerous sporting facilities, as well as a man-made wave pool.
Day 3: (Sat) Sun City
Deep in the rugged bushveld, in the heart of an ancient volcano, lies the world's most unique resort, the internationally acclaimed Sun City. Spend today exploring the complex and its many facilities. Adjoining the resort is the beautiful Pilanesberg National Park, which will delight game viewers. Home to the 'Big Five', the Pilanesberg National Park covers some 55 000 hectares.
Day 4: (Sun) Sun City / Johannesburg / Cape Town
Transfer back to OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) for your onward flight to Cape Town (flight not included). On arrival at Cape Town International Airport transfer to your hotel. Cape Town offers beautiful sunsets, crystal clear beaches, breathtaking vineyards, spectacular mountain ranges, exciting shopping opportunities and a vibrant nightlife. With its majestic Table Mountain backdrop and pristine beaches, Cape Town is considered one of the most beautiful, culturally diverse cities in Africa.
Day 5: (Mon) Cape Peninsula
Depart on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula, a journey with incomparable scenery. Drive via Hout Bay to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you'll be whisked away on a scenic trip to the view site near the old Cape Point lighthouse. Stop at Boulders Beach, to visit the resident penguins and then travel through the naval port of Simon's Town back to Cape Town.
Day 6: (Tue) Cape Winelands
Your full day excursion takes in the beauty of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. Take a drive into the small valley of Franschhoek which was founded in 1688 on land granted to the French Huguenots. This is the valley where some of the Cape's most notable homesteads are situated. Stroll through the oak-lined streets of the second oldest town in South Africa' Stellenbosch. Experience our heritage while visiting quaint villages and sampling wines of merit.
Day 7: (Wed) Cape Town / Oudtshoorn
We depart by 07h30 and travel via the town of Montagu on 'Route 62' (South Africa's version of America's famous 'Route 66') to the pretty village of Barrydale where we stop for tea (own account). Then on to Oudtshoorn, known as the 'feather capital of the world' thanks to its huge ostrich industry. After a fascinating tour of an ostrich farm, we continue to our Oudtshoorn hotel for check in and overnight.
Day 8: (Thu) Oudtshoorn / Knysna
This morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded, for good reason, as one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. We then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the town of George, then onto Knysna, perhaps South
Africa's most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. Spend the rest of the day discovering the joys of the town's many art galleries, craft shops and coffee bars.
Day 9: (Fri) Knysna
Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone 'Heads' which guard the sea entrance to Knysna's huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying this lovely and special town.
Day 10: (Sat) Port Elizabeth
We get to Port Elizabeth mid afternoon, aftera drive through the glorious indigenous Tsisikamma Forest. Spend the night in Port Elizabeth.
Day 11: (Sun) Port Elizabeth / Durban
After breakfast, transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Durban (flight not included). Arrive in Durban and transfer to your hotel, situated in the heart of Durban's 'Golden Mile' and affording magnificent views of the Indian Ocean and golden beaches.
Day 12: (Mon) Durban
Depart on a full day Durban Highlights Tour, starting with a tour of the city. Durban is a city of contrasts, shaped by the early Settlers, the Zulu population and the Indians who arrived in the 19th Century. Later today visit uShaka Marine World which incorporates fresh and sea water, natural materials, and the recreation of a wreck of a 1940's cargo ship, with the 5th largest aquarium in the world.
Day 13: (Tue) Durban / Kruger National Park
Transfer back to Durban International Airport for your onward flight to Kruger (flight not included). Arrive at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Hazyview. Check in and spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure, soaking up the beauty of your surroundings.
Day 14: (Wed) Kruger National Park
Spend the day on a full day scheduled open vehicle game drive in the world famous Kruger National Park, with one of our specialist guides, for an up close and personal encounter with nature, seeking out the 'Big Five'.
Day 15: (Thu) Kruger National Park / Johannesburg
Your road transfer back to OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) departs later today. Arrive in time to connect with your on-ward flight, after experiencing all of the highlights that South Africa has to offer.
