Although our package is based on Pretoriuskop Rest Camp, there are many other great rest camps to choose from spread throughout the park. Pretoriuskop is fairly close to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, and offers great facilities. We work with all the rest camps within Kruger depending on which suits your itinerary – our favourites include Skukuza and Berg-en-Dal.
Thompsons Africa maintains 7 units within Pretoriuskop for our clients. Our dedicated permanent staff members, based just outside of the Kruger National Park, conduct open safari vehicle game drives within the park. They can also give suggestions on activities in and around Kruger and assist with booking these excursions.
The Thompsons Kruger Wildlife Safari was inadvertently catapulted to fame recently when a client on one of our tours captured incredible footage of the harsh realities of life within the Kruger National Park that unfolded before their very eyes. Our client posted his footage on YouTube and this rare sighting dubbed the ‘Battle at Kruger’ has captured the imagination of an astonishing 7.5 million viewers world-wide!
Kruger is a fabulous destination in that the roads are well maintained and the rest camp facilities are good. The main rest camps have petrol stations, swimming pools, curio shops which stock the basic necessities, and a restaurant. There is allure of discovering the park at your own pace (map in hand) and the sheer thrill of seeking out Africa’s ‘Big Five’. |
