Zululand

Isimangaliso Wetland Park, the country’s third-largest wildlife sanctuary and a magnificent World Heritage Site, is Internationally-renowned and boasts a spectacular coastline, the second-highest vegetated sea-dunes on earth, and pods of hippo, crocodile and elephant. With its numerous environments and no fewer than 367 species of birds, the park is a remarkable feast for the senses. A major draw-card to the Zululand region is the opportunity to see the ‘Big Five’ in the vast Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park.  As the home of Operation Rhino in the 1950’s and 1960’s, the Park became world renowned for its white rhino conservation.  The Rhino Capture Unit of the park can take credit for helping save the endangered White Rhino from the brink of extinction.  The Park is also home to 86 special species including hippo, cheetah, spotted hyena and the blue wildebeest, and as a prime birding destination, boasts 340 different bird species.
 

  

In the past few years, the town of St Lucia has developed into a centre of action and adventure. Visitors set out to sea to watch the dolphins at play, they brave the surf with jet-boats, go snorkelling, scuba-diving, horse-riding or quad-biking. Near at hand is the sub-continent’s only breeding ground for the giant leatherback turtles, which can be seen at night. There’s more than enough on offer for everyone at this lively Coastal Resort.
